34 weeks pregnant

by Richard Kozinski

Expected date of delivery is not a strict date when your child should be born. It can happen that your baby would be born two weeks before or later. So check the list of thing to do before delivery. If are nervous about preterm labour, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Your Baby

The gastrointestinal track is developed and releases enzymes thanks to which the breast milk would be digested. If you are going to give a birth to twins, it is probable that it will happen during the next two weeks.
Majority of children are in the position with the head directed down into your pelvis. But if your baby hasn't moved into this position yet, there is a big probability (75%) that it will have happened by the delivery.

Guidelines for Mother

Remember to test your blood pressure every day. It is too high it may mean preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a multi-system disorder characterized by high blood pressure and significant amounts of protein in the urine of a pregnant woman. Associated symptoms can include abnormal maternal laboratory tests and intrauterine growth restriction. If left untreated, it can develop into eclampsia, the life-threatening occurrence of seizures during pregnancy.

Moreover, you can experience other symptoms associated with the late pregnancy such as digestive problems, backaches, tiredness, fatigue and bleeding gums. Bleeding gums are caused by hormone changes and larger volume of the blood in the circulatory system. Gum inflammation may be dangerous for the foetus. To avoid this state you should take care of the oral hygiene. Diet is also extremely important. You should avoid sugar, since it cause teeth and gum illnesses.

Because of hormone changes and anxiety connected with labour you can have mood swings. Despite it is quite normal, it may be frustrating for you and your family. It is worth talking about it with somebody.
